Spending the day in Philadelphia required little research on the Philly Cheesesteak. This meaty and cheesy sandwich originated in Philadelphia in the early 30’s by hot dog vendors Pat and Harry Olivieri. One day they decided to put some meat from the local butcher on the grill and put it on bread. A taxi cab driver noticed the sandwich and asked for his own. Adoring every bite, the word of the mouthwatering creation soon spreed to all the taxi cab drivers, and then the entire city of Philadelphia. An authentic Philly Cheesesteak is served with Cheez Wiz, however provolone has since become perfectly acceptable. The sandwich is now enjoyed by people Nationally and is an American favorite.
