We asked some of our favorite local mixologist to create their interpretation of what an Annapolis Hurricane would be. Traditionally a Hurricane cocktail consists of both light and dark rum, grenadine, orange juice, passion fruit juice, simple syrup, and lime juice. But our cocktail experts took it to a new level with these Annapolis Hurricane creations.
Josh Swisher of Tsunami was up first and crafted his with Sugar Island Coconut Rum, Sailor Jerry Rum, Kraken Rum, Grand Mariner, pineapple juice, and ginger syrup. If a cocktail could speak this one would say “Lets Party”. It was refreshing yet tropical and the perfect recipe for a good time.
Billy Maddox of Dry85 crafted his with 8 year El Dorado Rum, Myers Rum, Grapefruit Juice, Lime Juice, Falernum. Fig Coffee Syrup, and a few dashes of Grapefruit Hibiscus Bitters. This sophisticated creation would be perfect for settling in and waiting for a storm to pass.
Both interpretations were unique, enjoyable, boozy, and a little dangerous. What would your Annapolis Hurricane consist of?
